So, day one was the most amazing thing ever. We cruised 20 miles into Lake Morena at around 4 PM with more than enough time for a walk to the market for beer and snacks. The excitement and unknown pushed up around every corner and up every hill where we were met by hikers relaxing in the shade or having a seat on some boulders. Energy was almost tangible with every smile and hello that was shared. We slept well after some map studying, hoping our bodies would be able to carry us the same distance tomorrow. So far so good.
